History
The university was established as a limited liability corporation in 1959, and it got its Royal Charter on August 16, 1961. Aside from Keele, this was the first British institution to open after WWII. The university's novel structure, with multiple Schools of Study and an interdisciplinary approach to education, has propelled it to the forefront of the field.
Because of the university's emphasis on interdisciplinary study, Sussex graduates will be well-equipped with both the required core competencies in a given area of study and a wide range of supplementary knowledge and experience.
