History of Ravensbourne University London
The current Ravensbourne was created in 1959 by the merger of the 1878-founded Bromley School of Art and the Furniture Design Department of the Beckenham School of Art. Situated near the well-liked tourist destination The O2, on Greenwich Peninsula, lies the main campus of Ravensbourne.
The College undertook major modifications in the 1980s in response to the National Advisory Body for Local Authority Higher Education's demands. The goal was to streamline fine art curricula across the country and save money in higher education. The College decided to close its fine arts department during this time as a result. Rather, it deliberately redirected its endeavours to focus on its fundamental competencies in design and communication media.
In a further development, in 1992 the Broadcasting School, which had been housed somewhere else, was incorporated into the main campus. Better coordination and collaboration within the college were made possible by this consolidation, which improved the students' overall educational experience.
